Ganges Township farm worker’s clothing entangled in machine

Ganges Township, MI — A farming accident Saturday caused the death of a Holland-area man at a Ganges Township farm.

Wenceslao Torres-Garcia, 29, a farm worker at Scenic View Dairy Farm, 1510 62nd St., died after his clothing became entangled in farm equipment while feeding the livestock, according to an Allegan County Sheriff’s Office press release.

When officers arrived, they found Torres-Garcia tangled in the shaft of a tractor that was attached to a feed-mixer trailer, the release stated.

Torres-Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene. He suffered severe injuries.

Investigation showed that a piece of Torres-Garcia’s clothing became stuck a shaft, causing him to be caught in the shaft as it was spinning, the report stated.

Torres-Garcia had worked at the farm for about nine years.

Allegan County Sheriff’s Office Victims Services Unit was called to the scene to assist family and coworkers.
