Please consider volunteering and passing this message to your friends and relatives. I am writing in relationship to Project Light, a Literacy Center located on 1104 14th Street West in Bradenton, Florida. We teach English as a second language classes. Students are from all over the map: Central and South America, Haitians, East Europe, etc.
The teachers are trained volunteers who work with the students at any level. Some students start classes and due to work situations they may stop coming for few days- then they resume classes again. It is not a regular school- it is adapted to the needs of the students and in particular the farm-workers. We are in need of teachers. You can choose to work one morning or one evening a week.
Classes are from Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 12 Noon and in the evening Monday, Tuesday, Thursday from 6:15 to 8 PM.
Training is provided and no experience is necessary.
Right now our teachers are having at least 20 to 30 students in each group and it is becoming difficult for them to manage such large number. We need more teachers desperately!
Please pass this information to anyone you may thing may be interested in helping.
It is a very rewarding experience and you will be empowering people to use their voice, to integrate in the community, and most importantly to help their children with their school life. Thank you so much for considering giving your time to Project Light. If you feel inclined to help, please reply with a phone number and an e-mail address to contact you.
