TALLAHASSEE – Catholic leaders press for the rights of farm laborers and other low-income workers at a press conference this morning in Tallahassee.

Representing the Florida Catholic Conference, Bishop John H. Ricard of Pensacola will discuss a pastoral letter “Honoring the Dignity of Work: A Call for Solidarity with Farmworkers and Other Vulnerable Workers in Florida,” at 9 a.m. at the Florida Press Center.

Representatives from agricultural worker organizations throughout the state will also attend. The pastoral letter coincides with the Dec. 12 celebration of the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, honoring the sighting in 1531 of a vision of the Virgin Mary near Mexico City.
