Farmworker, 22, dies after tractor rolls over near Simi

A farmworker was killed Saturday in an accident at the Mehan Ranch avocado orchard near Simi Valley.

Alejandro Ramos, 22, lived in Fillmore and was an employee of Central Coast Labor, according to a statement released by the Ventura County Sheriff's Department.

Paramedics and sheriff's deputies were called to Mehan Ranch at 15255 Tierra Rejada Road about 12:45 p.m. to investigate an accident. They found Ramos trapped under a tractor and pronounced him dead at the scene.

According to sheriff's Capt. Bill Flannigan, Ramos was on the tractor pulling a trailer when the accident happened. He tried to go up a steep hill and the tractor fell back and pinned him.
