ALERT:

The SMFS has set Sunday, January 25th, 2004 from 12noon to 2pm as the time for peaceful picketing

and demonstration at 35th Avenue and 14th Street West (route 41) in Bradenton in front of the

Trail Motel and Mobile Home Park .

The remaining homeowners and tenants are being evicted from the premises with indecent haste.

The deadline is February 29th. They have no time to find alternate housing. Years of code violations

are being cited now to expedite new plans for landlord replacement and new construction.

We demand six months of leeway for the hardworking farmworkers to make a new adjustment.

We demand that the County allocate $5000 per family to compensate them for their hardships-

as was recommended by one commissioner.

Join us at 11:30am. We will have picket signs available.
Farmworkers are urged to join us. Verbal permission has been granted by the county. Words have failed so far.

We must demonstrate the need for compassion and reasonableness in the few days left before final disaster

confronts our hardworking friends.

Justice for

Farmworkers!

Residents of the Trail Motel and Trailer Park are being evicted

as of January 30th. The County says there are multiple code violations.

True! But there have been violations for ten years. Suddenly the County

is calling for action: demolition. A wise decision but not on the day the

new contract to a new landlord goes into effect. They need time to find

affordable housing. These are hard-working people. They are ready to pay.

But decent housing is hard to find. We of the Sarasota/Manatee

Farmworker Supporters demand that they be given six months time to

look around. And that the County allot $5000 for each trailer to

aid in relocation.

Their situation is desperate. Call your County Commisssioners now.
